Ever since The Game came out, a lot of people have criticized the community and PU in general. These critics of the Pick Up Artists Community say that “gurus” are selling snake oil and that their teachings do more harm than good to guys looking to become more successful with women.

Critics like Barry Kirkey (Extramask from The Game) say that because the community has become commercialized it is more interested in indoctrinating guys so that they buy more products instead of actually helping guys with their issues. These guys argue that the community will do nothing more than make you weirder than you already are.

Others like Steve Pavlina say that the community teaches men how to manipulate women because the type of guys who come into the community want to get a twisted sort of revenge on the women who have rejected them in the past.

The problem with these critiques is that they minimize the depth of the community. The community today is massive. You can find everything from how to hypnotize women into bed to how to become comfortable with approaching women without any type of structure. There are thousands of gigabytes on natural game, routine game and social circle game. There are even companies that are taking some insights from the community and applying them to sex and relationships.

Treating the community like a giant blob is absurd. It would be like saying that a football team is bad because their kicker is bad. The community does have weird and cult-like segments, but it also has a lot to offer.

The community is the first time in history where men have gotten together on a large scale to figure out how to better become what women want. There are some men who are motivated to manipulate and abuse women, but they are not in line with the general spirit of the whole movement.

In any field of knowledge, new perspectives and ideas will lead to evolving ideas. The community over the years has shifted from how to trick girls into believing that you are a cool guy to how to become a cool guy. At each step old ideas were integrated and meshed with new ones. The result is the most exciting and constantly growing area of personal development.

You don’t hear as much about the thousands of men who get into the community and make positive changes to themselves because they tend to move on with their lives. The haters are the ones who tend to hang around the message boards or write long articles on why their lives suck because they still can’t get girls. This is why it is important for guys who do make the journey and become successful to give back to the community.

You can avoid the pitfalls that a lot of guys go through in the community by following the simple pieces of advice that almost every guru gives. This includes things like going out, approaching girls, writing from experience and taking action on improving your life. Unfortunately most guru worshippers don’t do those things.

The best approach is to learn from many sources, take action and surround yourself with others who are on the same path as you. By joining this website you have done this already. You should take warning from the critics about some dangers in the community. At the same time, you should realize that the community does have a lot to offer men who want to become more successful with women and that its negative sides should not overshadow its many positive ones.
